TOM (Transforming Outpatient Medicine) Talks: Innovations in Primary Care
TOM (Transforming Outpatient Medicine) is a series of fast paced, inspirational talks from leaders in the field of primary care. Inspired by
TOM Talks at UCSF, which follows a format similar to that of the TED Talks, the Georgetown PCP invited speakers who are engaging and knowledgeable in the field for a panel discussion on innovative practices across different disciplines.

article from NEJM covers methods such as group sessions, consultations through email, and a greater focus on preventive medicine, and how they might help overworked primary care physicians.

article from the New York Times featuring
research on a new strategy that is currently in use to adapt family medicine practices to "better suit the needs of patients"--patient-centered medical homes.

paper by the California Healthcare Foundations, and paying special attention to sections on retail clinics, home as the new medical home, and telehealth and mobile care.

Want to hear first hand what it’s like to work in primary care, and how it relates to public health and preventive medicine? Prominent and passionate members of the Georgetown primary care community will discuss their experiences in medicine! Panelists include:
Dr. Marghuerite Duane: Medical Director, Spanish Catholic Center of Catholic Charities
Dr. Jeff Weinfeld: Associate Professor at Georgetown’s Family Medicine department, and a practicing physician
Shoshana Aleinikoff (MD ’12): 3rd year medical student, and a coordinator for the HOYA clinic from 2009-2010
