Group News

Last week we had our second Breakfast Club meeting. We were fortuante to have in attendance Oregon House Representative Alissa Keny-Guyer. She has been active in health care reform and advocacy for many years and wanted to speak with PCPers about House Bill 4010. The bill would have allowed equal pay for physicians and nurse practitioners. We had a great discussion of the pros and cons of this proposed payment strategy. Here's a taste-- Pros: equal pay for equal work makes intuitive sense. Cons: physicians have more years of training and more educational debt, also some concern about a nursing "briain drain".

Thanks to everyone who woke up extra early for this event. Look for more in the future!

Description:
OHSU is excited to be starting a Primary Care Progress chapter. In the fall of 2011 a group of second year medical students worked with the PCP team in planning National Primary Care Week events. The OHSU PCP chapter hopes to facilitate dialogue and collaboration among the diverse group of primary care clinicians. We are also excited to help students learn more about primary care innoavtion and become involved in projects that are taking place within the university and in the community.
