National Primary Care Week 2012

National Primary Care Week is an annual event to highlight the importance of primary care and bring health care professionals together to discuss and learn about generalist and interdisciplinary health care, particularly its impact on and importance to underserved populations. NPCW aims to focus the attention of health professional students from all disciplines on the failure of the healthcare system to provide equal, high quality health care to all individuals, regardless of ethnicity, race and other factors, and to provide students with the tools to address these inequalities.

This year, PCP is excited to launch a new social marketing campaign, "Voices for Primary Care."  This is an unprecedented opportunity to give primary care a voice and demonstrate its value to people across the country!
NPCW 2011: A Primary Care Community Comes Together

During NPCW 2011, nearly 250 events took place across the country to put the focus on primary care and ways to improve primary care education and delivery.  These are just a few highlights from PCP chapters. The photo at left is from the PCP chapter at University of Pennsylvania.

NPCW Partners

The primary care community grows stronger every year.  AMSA and NHSC are two partners who also make special efforts to honor primary care during NPCW. Learn more about both of these orgs below.

The American Medical Student Association (AMSA) is a student-governed, national organization committed to representing the concerns of physicians-in-training. Please visit AMSA's NPCW page where you can find more information on AMSA-hosted events in honor of NPCW.

The NHSC helps bring health care professionals to the areas where they are needed the most by providing scholarships and loan repayment in exchange for a commitment of service in an underserved community. On Corps Community Day, NHSC celebrates the impact of the NHSC on improving access to health care and highlight the importance of the primary care workforce as a whole.
